Committee chairperson councilors Ali Brown started the meeting at 5:36 p.m.

She announced that there is one proposal today; that of the Mayor’s appointment of Amanda Dehoney as Director of the Animal Care Services Agency.

Ms. Dahoney did a short presentation on her qualifications. They include a 20-year history in Animal welfare, building a new shelter, work with the ASPCA, and having a Lead Six Sigma yellow belt to name a few.

Councilors present for this meeting are Boots, Osili, Jones, Hart, Gibson and Roberts.

Several councilors congratulated Ms. Dahoney on her appointment and their confidence in her future work.

Public comments are now open, and the rules are read. Each speaker has 2 minutes to speak, must address the topic at hand, and refrain from bad behavior.

Amanda G. asks that the agency has a vibrant volunteer base.

Jessica Perry is a volunteer at ICS with the dogs and social media work. She expresses her desire to better use the talents from agency volunteers.

Monica welcomes Amanda to the agency, and speaks on the overworked staff and volunteers. She adds how the animals are stressed, and 4,500 volunteer hours have been lost in the last year due to disorganization.

A motion is made and seconded by the committee to pass proposal 208 to the full council.

After again welcoming Ms. Dehoney, the meeting concluded at 6:09 p.m.

I just met Ms. Dehoney, and enjoyed hearing her ambitious plans for the agency.
