The City of Fresno’s Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission conducts hearings and receives public input on programs, facilities and services funded with Measure P. They then make recommendations to the city council for the adoption of expenditures in the annual budget.
The commission consists of nine members appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council:

Member Reports: Chair McCoy thanks the community for trusting her to serve. McCoy also shares that a new commissioner will be joining in the next meeting.
Member Reports: Commissioner Parkes announces the end of her term and shares she will continue to be an advocate for Measure P.
Member Reports: Vice Chair Dohlin, Commissioners Barraza, Cummings and Miller thanks their colleagues for their services and contributions to the committee.
Public Comment: Lillian Gonzales-Chavez, a member of the Fresno Arts council, thanked Chair McCoy and Commissioner Parkes for their services. “You made us feel like we had voices,” said Gonzales-Chavez.
Public Comment: Lisa Flores expresses her concerns about the Measure P draft. She shares that today’s meeting does not invite public commenters due to the short notice of the draft.

Comments: Commissioner Barraza says he wished the draft was made available prior to the meeting. Barraza shares it would encourage participation from community members and artists.

City of Fresno Meetings
The Fresno City Council makes decisions on the scope, direction and financing of city services, such as water, sewer, police and fire protection. It also establishes policy that is administered and implemented by city staff, as well as establishing land-use policies through the General Plan and zoning regulations.
Meetings usually occur at 9 a.m. on Thursdays at the Fresno City Hall, 2600 Fresno Street. They are also available to participate in via Zoom and are webcast.
In Fresno, the city clerk and the city attorney serve the council, not the mayor.
