The Innerbelt Master Plan process kicked off in January 2025 with our first Community Workshop and the announcement of a $10 million federal grant from the Department of Transportation to support the repurposing of the decommissioned Innerbelt. Join us on March 18 to take the next step in the planning process, where we will begin envisioning a physical future for the Innerbelt and develop big ideas for housing, economic growth, and community development that will benefit Akron’s economy, environment, and community well-being. The Master Plan will also focus on how these benefits can repair past harms to the community caused by the Innerbelt.
The Master Plan will be shaped through dialogue, engagement, and shared ideas over the next seven months through Community Workshops and other engagement opportunities. No decisions have been made about the future of the Innerbelt yet, and we want your participation to ensure the plan reflects the community’s needs, aspirations, and priorities.
We want the Innerbelt Master Plan to be the community’s plan. That is why your participation truly matters. We hope you can join us as we take the next step into envisioning a future for the Akron Innerbelt.
